After a grueling series of battles, the Algonquin Regiment was able to partake in the Liberation of Holland.

This certificate was given to Jim Jones, a miner from Cobalt who enlisted with the Signal Corps in WWII. It reads: “The undersigned, by the grant of orange-red tulip bulbs from the Netherlands, expresses his thankfulness and gratitude towards: Mr. J.W. Jones who dedicated himself to the liberation of the Netherlands. ‘Gratitude is remembering from the heart.’” It is signed by Fam. A.C. van Heemskerck Veeckens.

After the war, Jim Jones returned to Cobalt, Ontario, with a collection of war memorabilia and began collecting in earnest, eventually starting the Bunker Military Museum.
