Correct! This is a uniform of a member of the Hitler Youth!
As the war progressed, the ranks of German soldiers became depleted. After the staggering loss and consequent surrender by some 91,000 men at Stalingrad, the German army ramped up its recruitment efforts. During this time, it was decided that a Panzer Division should be created from the Hitler-Jugend. These were boys generally between the ages of 16 and 17. They were eventually organized into the 12th Panzer Division and quickly made a name for themselves during the bloody battles of Caen and the Falaise Gap. They were highly indoctrinated and had hardened commanders who were fresh from the Rassenkrieg (race war) on the Eastern Front.
This particular Hitler-Jugend M43 tunic has the traditional feldgrau (field grey) colour as well as the gold-trimmed collar patches and shoulder pads. The uniform belonged to a soldier in the coastal artillery. On the left-hand pocket is the badge of the Kriegsmarine Mine Sweepers, an award given to recognize either length of service or outstanding service. It also has the Hitler Youth armband and a belt buckle inscribed with the motto of the Hitler-Jugend, “Blut und Ehre” (Blood and Honour).
