This is a cold weather bomber suit that would have been worn by a tail gunner in a WWII Lancaster bomber. The pilot was also equipped with a leather radio helmet and oxygen mask. The uniform was designed to withstand temperatures up to minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The average tail gunner was lucky to survive more than three flights.
